From the watersheds flowing through coastal rainforests to the rivers of Puget Sound and tributaries of the mighty Columbia to the Lower Snake, Washington is home to five species of Pacific salmon, beloved summer and winter steelhead, a wide range of resident and anadromous trout, and Pacific Lamprey. These keystone species are fundamental to Washington’s cultural heritage and ecosystems.
